Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from my first session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will discuss what has brought you to counselling, your goals, and any concerns you may have. There is no pressure to share everything at once—we will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Do I need to have a specific problem to attend counselling?

No. Many people seek counselling because they are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or simply want support navigating life's challenges. Counselling can be beneficial whether you are facing a specific issue or seeking personal growth and self-discovery.

What issues do you support clients with?

I provide support for a range of concerns, including alcohol and other drug use, anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, life transitions, self-esteem, difficult family relationships, people-pleasing, boundary setting, and personal growth.

Do you specialise in Drug and Alcohol Counselling?

Yes. I am a qualified Drug and Alcohol Counsellor with over 12 years of experience supporting individuals with alcohol and other drug concerns. I have worked with both voluntary and mandated clients and have experience in community mental health, referring to rehabilitation, and detoxification settings.

Are counselling sessions confidential?

Yes. Counselling sessions are confidential. There are some legal and ethical exceptions relating to safety concerns, which will be explained to you during our first session. You will also be required to sign a consent form.

Are sessions conducted online?

Yes. All counselling sessions are conducted online via a secure video platform, allowing you to access support from the privacy and comfort of your own space.

How long is each session?

I offer a range of counselling sessions from 30-90mins.

How much do sessions cost?

Please refer to the Fees page for current pricing. If you have any questions about fees, feel free to contact me.

How often should I attend counselling?

This varies depending on your goals and circumstances. Some clients attend weekly, while others prefer fortnightly or monthly sessions. Together, we can determine a schedule that best supports your needs.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required. You can contact me directly to book an appointment.

What if I am feeling nervous about starting counselling?

Feeling nervous is completely normal. Reaching out for support can be a big step. My goal is to provide a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental environment where you feel safe, heard, and supported.

How do I book an appointment?

You can contact me by phone, email, or through the website contact form. I will be happy to answer any questions and help you arrange a suitable appointment time.

How long will I need counselling for?

There is no set timeframe for counselling, as everyone's journey is different. Some people achieve their goals in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support.
My role is to walk alongside you, helping you build the skills, confidence, and insight needed to create lasting change. Ultimately, I want to empower so you no longer need my support you to become your own best resource.
Together, we will regularly review your progress and ensure counselling continues to meet your needs and goals.
